The Road Traveled...

Sarah, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor of the pituitary when she was 6 years old. She had surgery at Children's hospital in Dallas, and followed with chemo and radiation therapy. She has since been in remission for the tumor and we praise God for that. After two years from surgery she began to have mini strokes, which then increased to strokes. She had an angiogram at the age of 9 at an adult hospital in Dallas and it was found that her right carotid artery was completely occluded, which means closed, and several other of her veins in her brain were closed or narrowing. She had a bad stroke in March 09 which caused temporary loss of left side which she regained most but is very weak in her left hand. Recently she was diagnosed with Moya Moya disease, which is a brain vascular disease. She has recently been referred to a doctor in California, and she and mom will be making the trip some time at the end of August and she will have 3 days of testing, surgery on one side of her brain, and then the very next week she will have a bypass on the other side of her brain. We pray and hope that Sarah will have strength for the testing, the surgeries, and that she will have the adequate blood flow in the deep center of her brain that she needs. She has 3 brothers and one sister and loves to do crafts and cook. She has been a real testimony of faith for so many and Sarah loves the Lord her savior with all her heart.
